Due to an increased workload, we have various positions within both Ferguson Engineering (Northern) and Ferguson Laser Engineering.


We are looking to fill the following positions:

Electricians:


Main duties include preparing, building and testing electrical control panels, machine builds and carrying out site installations to a high standard.  We are looking for somebody with a flexible approach who can work in the workshop and away onsite to carry out installations when required.  


Main Requirements:

 Hold an NVQ in Electrical Engineering

 17th Edition Qualification desirable but not essential

 Build and wire control panels and carry out machine builds from containment layout to cable connections

 Understand and work to complex electrical schematics, resolving issues and reporting them back to the design team for updating

 Work to cable schedules

 Have experience of working with stainless steel trunking and basket containment

 Set-up PLC equipment and inverters from supplied set-up sheets provided by the design team

 Assist with panel and machine build testing including carrying out I/O and motor direction checks for handover to the commissioning team

 Carry out site installations with opportunities to work in the UK and overseas

 Hourly paid + OTE

 Basic 39 hour week, 25 days holidays + bank holidays per year

 The role comes with the potential of becoming an Electrical Site Supervisor for the right candidate


Commissioning / Software Engineers (x2):


The commissioning / software engineer’s role is to plan, organise and carry out the comm

issioning of plant and equipment to a high standard in the UK and overseas.  The role is approximately 60% office based and 40% site based.


Generally, projects will consist of ‘in office’ design; creating parts lists, electrical schematics, device layouts, creating and writing software and HMI programs before going to site for commissioning.  


Main Requirements:

 Qualified to minimum ONC in Electrical Engineering

 HNC or equivalent preferred or a very experienced control systems engineer

 AutoCad experience would be advantageous although not essential

 Experienced in PLC ladder logic programming essential

 PLC experience with Allen Bradley, Siemens and / or Mitsubishi

 Full project experience from software writing and pre-commissioning to full site installation, commissioning and hand over

 Create parts lists, schematics and device layouts

 You will be working in a hands-on environment and must be able to help test, fault find and correct equipment prior to commissioning

 Expected to work onsite during commissioning periods

 Hourly paid + OTE

 Basic 40 hour week, 25 days holiday + bank holidays per year  


Sheet Metal Workers / Fabricators (x2):


We have vacancies for sheet metal workers and fabricators in our workshop.  We cover a wide range of metal working from small, intricate stainless steel components to large mild steel fabrications.  General tasks include; working from detailed drawings, self-checking your own work and working with others on larger assemblies.  A high amount of overtime is expected from these roles and it would be advantageous if the candidate(s) are able to work away from home on installations.


Main Requirements:

 Time served, qualified to a minimum of NVQ Level 3 Sheet Metal / Fabrication

 Experienced welder (MIG / TIG / MMA)

 Able to understand engineering drawings

 Trained in the safe use of power tools, bench tools / equipment and hand tools

 Self-inspect work that has been manufactured and assembled to the tolerances detailed on the drawings

 Work with other departments and assist when required

 Mainly workshop based with opportunities for site work

 Assist with maintaining the ISO 9001 quality standard

 Hourly paid £12.60 / hour + OTE

 Basic 39 hour week, 25 days holidays + bank holidays per year


Mechanical Fitter (x2):


We require a number of fitter / assemblers to work in our workshop and as part of our installation teams onsite.  Working as part of a team with other disciplines, you will be required to fit and assemble individual component parts before assembling them as part of a unit machine that will be pre-commissioned before leaving for site to be installed.


Main Requirements:

 Time served and qualified to a minimum of NVQ Level 3 in a relevant discipline

 Experienced mechanical fitter / assembler

 Able to understand engineering drawings

 Trained in the safe use of power tools, bench tools / equipment and hand tools

 Work with other departments and assist when required

 Mainly workshop based with opportunities for site work

 Hourly Paid £12.10 / hour + OTE

 Basic 39 hour week, 25 days holidays + bank holidays per year


Machine Shop Operator:


We require a machine shop operator to operate vertical and horizontal Mazak CNC machining centres.  Having a good knowledge of Mazatrol controls is an advantage but not essential as training will be provided.


It is essential to have a strong engineering background and be able to read and understand engineering drawings.  The preferred candidate will also have experience with manual machining.


Main Requirements:

 Create programs directly on the machines based on drawings supplied

 Edit/modify existing programs

 Meet production targets on a daily basis set out by the production manager

 Produce one offs and batch work as required

 Carry out self-inspection on any work produced

 Workshop based

 Hourly Paid + OTE

 Basic 39 hour week, 25 days holidays + bank holidays per year


Assistant Manufacturing Manager:


We have the availability for an assistant manager to work in our manufacturing department.  The main duties include quoting, organising and expediting spare parts, assisting with the exporting of machinery and equipment to our overseas clients and to assist in the manufacturing department, mainly chasing and coordinating parts between sections.



Main Requirements:

 Ideally time served in a mechanical discipline

 Worked in a similar role either currently or previously

 Good knowledge of the MS Office package

 Experience in the exporting of goods is advantageous

 Salary based

 Office based, 39 hours per week, 25 days holiday + bank holidays per annum


Mechanical Design Engineer:



 Experienced in working with AutoCad & Inventor essential

     Worked in a similar role either currently or previously


Sales Engineer:


We have an opportunity for an experienced sales engineer to join our team.  The main objectives of the role are to keep in contact with new and existing customers in addition to creating and presenting proposals from leads gained from visits.


Ideally, the sales engineer will have experience in working in the FMCG sector and would be able to present basic concepts and layouts using AutoCad.


Main Requirements:

 Experienced in working within the baking industry or similar FMCG based sector

 Worked in a similar role either currently or previously

 The areas covered by this role is UK & overseas, including the Middle East

 Ideally be able to create basic plant layouts / concepts for presentation using AutoCad

 Approximately 50% office based and 50% travel

 Salary based

 Company car, mobile phone and laptop provided

 Basic 39 hour week, 25 days holidays + bank holidays per year
